Group Travel Showcase at the National Aquarium

I recently went to the National Aquarium in Plymouth accompanied by local Group Organiser Tony Prior to attend the Group Travel Showcase. The event was organised by Steve Reed Tourism in conjunction with DATA – Devon Association of Tourist Attractions and the Eden Hotel Collection – owners of the prestigious Bovey Castle Hotel, on Dartmoor.

There was a good mix of exhibitors there including the Land Rover Experience; Powderham Castle; the Yarn Market Hotel in Dunster; Torquay Leisure Hotels [TLH]; Exmoor Zoo; The South Devon Railway Trust; Devon’s Top Attractions; Stuart Line Cruises; the Hannafore Hotel of St Ives; World of Country Life; Clovelly; Daish’s Holidays; West Somerset Railway; Simply Groups; the Association of Group Travel Organisers [AGTO]; Castles of Devon; Seaton Tramway; Kent’s Cavern; Dartmoor National Park; Great Days Travel; English Heritage and the Visit Plymouth and the National Trust.

From my perspective it was great to see new exhibitors such as the Land Rover Experience, as well as some old colleagues from Daish’s Holidays, Simply Groups, Stuart Line Cruises and AGTO (Association of Group Travel Organisers) and TLH.

Tony and I also took advantage of the free entry into the aquarium, which I admit to not visiting for around 10 years. The aquarium has lots of wildlife which is found along the Devon coastline, as well the large tanks with sharks and rays, which were mesmerising to watch.

The aquarium is great to visit as a group appealing to all age ranges, especially if you are in Plymouth and we are having some inclement weather, you could combine this with shopping in Drakes Circus or a visit to the Plymouth Gin distillery and the Mayflower Steps, where the Pilgrim Fathers sailed from to settle in the Americas.
